“A Wonderful Closing Day for the Fourth Cycle of Psychosocial Support Sessions for Adolescent Girls”

  • Previews 92

GCMHP concluded the fourth cycle of psychosocial support sessions for adolescent girls aged 15–18. This initiative was part of the project "Improving the Availability of Youth and their Caregivers to Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Quality Services in Gaza Strip." in partnership with the Belgian Agency for International Cooperation - Enabel, and funded by the Belgian Government.

The closing day was marked by an atmosphere of joy, camaraderie, and positive interaction. It featured a session titled "Expressing Gratitude, Hope, and Social Interaction," designed to foster positive communication and provide the girls with a space to express their feelings and gratitude, as well as share their hopes and aspirations for the future.

The event included a variety of group activities, recreational games, and movement-based exercises that offered a space for fun and emotional release, while strengthening the spirit of cooperation, interaction, and a sense of belonging among the participants. Friendly exchanges and shared meals further added an atmosphere of warmth and mutual support to the gathering.

The girls' interactions during the session reflected the impact of the experience they had undergone throughout the program. It highlighted the opportunities provided to develop their psychosocial skills—such as expressing emotions, communicating with others, coping with stress, boosting self-confidence, and viewing the future with greater positivity and hope. The participants also demonstrated an enhanced ability to express their views and emotions, drawing upon the skills acquired during the sessions and relating them to situations in their daily lives. This highlights the importance of safe spaces that allow young people to learn, express themselves, and interact free from pressure.

The event concluded amidst feelings of joy and gratitude, reflecting the value of the shared human experience among the young women and the importance of maintaining safe, supportive spaces that foster their psychosocial well-being. These spaces provide them with opportunities to voice their needs, build positive relationships, and hold onto hope despite the challenges they face.
